NNAVY: Swiss Neo-Soul for the Seen and Desired
Some debut albums arrive as introductions. NNAVY's I'll Wait For You arrives as a statement of intent. The Swiss singer, songwriter and performer releases her debut album tomorrow, October 30, and it caps a slow, deliberate build: four EPs, a COLORS performance, three consecutive years at the Montreux Jazz Festival, and a 60-date tour in 2024 completed without a record label behind her.
NNAVY is based in Lausanne, and her story is one of patience paying off. She has shared stages with Arlo Parks, Alfa Mist and November Ultra, opened for Lionel Richie at Montreux in 2023, and picked up the TATAKI Award in 2023 and the Swiss Music Award for Best Act Romandie in 2025. The throughline is independence in the real sense: a career built on touring, a distinctive voice and songs that hold their nerve, not on a hype cycle.
What she sounds like is contemporary soul with jazz running through it. Think Daniel Caesar's warmth, Jordan Rakei's groove and Nina Simone's refusal to soften a feeling for comfort. Across twelve tracks, I'll Wait For You moves between R&B, soul and jazz, and its themes are grief, resilience, desire and self-worth. Nothing here sounds rushed. The production stays close and personal, which suits a record about wanting to be fully seen.
The singles trace the album's emotional arc. "Slowly Burning" arrived in June as the first glimpse, landing on Spotify's Queen and R&B Weekly playlists and earning NNAVY a Vevo DSCVR nod. "Late Nights" followed as the second single, a soulful love song that faces its subject head on. It is about attraction and vulnerability, and about the specific struggles Black women face in the dating scene, where societal biases around body image and race can push relationships into secrecy. NNAVY sings it as a demand to be seen and desired for her whole self. Third single "Distance" turns to self-preservation: smooth and raw at once, with guitars echoing behind her vocal, it is about recognising when a relationship no longer serves you and having the strength to step back.
Live, NNAVY is already proven. Beyond Montreux and that marathon 2024 run, she celebrates the album with two release shows in Switzerland: November 5 at Les Docks in Lausanne and November 7 at Moods in Zurich.
