PennyTheWizrd Pops Out with 'Stressed'
Some artists arrive with press kits, rollout plans, and a publicist. PennyTheWizrd arrived with a song.
"Stressed" came to us the old-fashioned way for a brand-new blog: straight through the submissions inbox. The trail from there led us to his SoundCloud page under the name pennypurple47. Possibly based in Harlem. Currently 36 tracks deep, with a producer credit worth knowing about. Sometimes the pitch is just: the music showed up, and it was good enough to stop the scroll, so we decided to post it up.
What we know
PennyTheWizrd is a Harlem-based rapper with a steady underground grind behind him: 36 tracks on SoundCloud, a few hundred followers, and a catalog that stretches back to at least late 2025. Recent uploads include "Elysia" and "Sorcerer" from last October, plus "Crease" from March. "Stressed" is the newest entry, released September 29 via D.O.O.M CULTURE RECORDS.
The beat comes from ICYMXNCLER, a producer working the underground type-beat circuit. I'd say kinda in that slump6s, swapa, che, osamason lane. That connection alone tells you roughly where this lives sonically: the internet-rap underground, where beats travel through YouTube and Instagram DMs before they ever touch a studio.
No press coverage yet, no verified bio beyond what the profiles say. This is about as early as discovery gets.
What it sounds like
The song starts out with Neptunes style chop-start then, after a short insrumental only part, rolls right into the lyrics. The beat gives them a nice ethereal Trap vibe to flow on. It uses heavy repetition in the melody but pulls it off without sounding too repetitive. It kinda has this hypnotic thing going on that really matches well with PennyTheWizrd's melodic and rhythmic flow. The subject matter seems based on his experiences "Gettin' right with the Pyrex"... if you know what that means, then you get it. Sometimes doing what you gotta do gets stressful and this song does a great job of conveying that emotion. (Don't ask me how I know)
